DSX-Time Display Modules

DSX-TDM and DSX-TDM5

Overview

The TDM Modules are typically used in Time and Attendance applications where the time must be displayed to those who are clocking in or out. DSX offers 2 sizes of Time Display Module. The original unit provides a 1”x 4”display. The new unit provides a 5”x16” display. Each Module uses four 7-segment LED displays.

The Time Display Module is typically connected to Slave Controllers. When connected to a Slave Controller the time is updated once a minute by the Master Controller. When there is only one controller in the location the TDM is connected to the Master Controller and is updated once a minute by the Comm Server PC. In this configuration the Comm Server PC must remain connected to the Location at all times for the TDM to display the correct time. A TDM or TDM5 will not operate correctly in a modem connected site if the site includes only one controller (the Master controller).

Application

Time and Attendance using WinDSX requires a minimum of 2 readers. The readers are defined as Time and Attendance In or Time and Attendance Out under Device in the Database section of the Software. Using WinDSX a History report can provide the total time that persons were clocked in. The report can be displayed, printed or exported to formats used by Third Party software that calculate pay rates. In this application the readers are typically located in a commons area of the facility and the Time Display Module is mounted near the In and Out Readers.
